If hides or stands are used its usually only when shooting over longer distances , such as across a clearing in a woodland environment.
We also don't use scents or baits and very few people use calls- it's considered bad sport and unfair.
The pinnacle of deer hunting is hill stalking. Where there is no tree cover and deer can see and smell you for miles. Getting the drop on them can involve mile upon mile of hiking up and down arduous terrain and even hours crawling on your stomach through wet Heather.
