I'll make a list in terms of difficulty in lure use okay OP?
Easy:
spinnerbait
spinnerbait
spinnerbait
hollow body frogs
poppers
Buzzbaits
inline spinners
All of these are literally just cast and wind and with the exception of inline spinners they are snagproof
Medium:
Crankbaits
spooks
tubes
soft plastics
These require a little knowledge of retrieval and presentation as well as learning the difference between hitting cover and structure over a bite.
Hard:
Jerkbaits
jigs
punching rigs
Special case lures that work best in certain conditions. There aren't really any "hard" to use baits as fishing is mostly knowledge but these do require patience which most fisherman lack. Not all artificial lures have to be worked.Take dead sticking for example.
All in all for starters I would use small spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and texas rigged worms. The smaller lures get more bites so its easier to learn when you are fishign right and when you aren't. Cheap spinnerbaits are hit and miss but booyah makes some great all purpose spinnerbaits.
pic related was on a red/black crawfish colored booyah spinnerbait. Best color for fishing around rocks.
