As I said on the thread that got deleted, I had some Plum Pudding for the first time in awhile earlier today. It’s been disappointing the last few times I smoked it, so I just stopped reaching for it. Basically, I feel like it used to have more latakia, and at the very least, it has less latakia than an English/Balkan blend should have. Since the last time I’ve smoked Plum Pudding, I’ve grown fond of Gawith’s Navy Flake. It’s a base of dark virginia with some light virginia and a sprinkling of latakia. It has a very sweet, savory, and slightly smoky flavor to it that tastes amazing. Smoking Plum Pudding today, I realized that it tastes extremely similar to Navy Flake, just with perique and orientals. I actually really enjoyed the bowl of Plum Pudding I had today. I still remember it having more latakia (that was the blend that made me a latakia fiend in the first place), but I guess I’ll enjoy it more if I approach it like a dark VA/Per with a sprinkling of latakia and orientals instead of approaching it as a full on English/Balkan. Does anybody else think Plum Pudding used to be more latakia heavy?
