Protips:
- throw away the bungie cords and get tie-downs/ratchet straps. You want the cargo to be as stable as possible.
- have hardcopy of as much maintenance stuff from the net [for your model of bike preferably] as you can find. If you can get a full workshop service manual, even better. The hardcopy part isn't essential. Figure out the essential tools.
- You're /touring/, not racing. Fatigue is the Killer-- scope out the Iron Butt Association and Farriders sites for their advice for all-day riding. Posture will make a lot of difference. Make the riding as stress-free as possible-- the attitude to other road users included.
- It's minimalist camping, make no mistake.
The engine size of the bike doesn't matter. Getting not killed matters.
