Taking pictures is a significant portion of the reason I go outside. I like that it compels me to stop and really study my surroundings, otherwise I have a bad habit of growing trail blinders.
I've been carrying a D40 for something to the tune of seven years, with the frankly ridiculous Nikkor 18-200 lens. I effing love that lens. It keeps my entire camera kit down to a reasonably light and compact single-bag operation. Occasionally I wish for an additional 11mm (or so) wide-angle for the really vistacious vistas, but have managed to quell those urges thus far.
