Charpy C-notch puts 52100 around 24-25, at the hardness it is normally produced in knives. this is pretty much identical to 420HC. 420HC has stain resistance that 52100 doesn't and also has wear resistance, due to the chromium content, that is on par, if not higher than 52100. because the way they are built, Busse could literally swap 52100 for 420HC and none of its customers would notice except for the uncoated edges stopped rusting.
