Hey guys I'm this guy
>>175568 >>176156I'm sober today lol.
>>175574the economy has taken a hit in the last couple of years, especially Fairbanks. The biggest problem we face is that energy and fuel cost so god damn much and the majority of people can't even afford to live here anymore. I'd say people have been leaving here consistently in the last 2-3 years for the lower 48. Alaska is definitely one of the most expensive places to live and you have to put up with the extreme weather too, so it can be very difficult for the majority of people. Hence why we have under a million people living here.
The oil industry is the same, they're a well refined machine and if your in that industry, you can find work year round easy.
Good luck networking though from the lower 48, I'd recommend blow jobs.
>>175597You just have to lower your standards or not have them at all. The women here are absolute trash and the guy to girl ratio is like 6 to 1. Hot girls are overrated anyways, give me a fat slut anyday. As far as walking around with weapons, no one gives a shit here, it's the last frontier. Bring your gun with you wherever you go.
>>175795depends, what kind of jobs are you interested in? Anchorage would be a good spot because of the higher population and there are more restaurants and coffee shacks. You could get a job there easy if you show some initiative.
If you live in Fairbanks, you'd better have a good paying job. It's expensive here.
What does your brother do in Delta? Does he work at pogo?
A DOT job would require a degree and a strong network. I'd even say the network is more important then the degree.
I work a bunch of different jobs and try to stay busy, but mainly I'm a heavy equipment operator.
The PFD is a nice bonus but in reality, you'd usually spend that money on the extra amount you owe for heating, energy and fuel. Better pump out those kids lol. Also our PFD was smaller this year and it has been getting worse every year :/
