I’m like 50/50 on it. Don’t get the cheapest possible baitcaster, you don’t have to go super expensive but you will enjoy using it more if you don’t go bottom barrel. I like them for ~1/2oz or heavier lures, you can launch them with the right rod and they seem smoother with heavier line than spinning reels when you want to rip bass out of weeds.
It’s worth trying, drop $100-$200 on a memecaster with good reviews and practice with it until you get the technique down, it might become your main rod. If you stick with spinning, I doubt you are going to catch less fish.
