And again, the 685 piston really helps knock off some of the vibration in that engine. Crank and piston are much better balanced with the 685 kit than the stock 650 setup.
As much as I'd love to have a 990, the KLR's price tag is a lot more appealing. They're also easier to work on. Doing anything on the 950/990 is a day's job with all the parts that have to be removed and reinstalled (pic related); the KLR's more like a dirt bike in that you take off the seat/tank and your whole engine's pretty much right there.
