>>2203135The point of the row cover is you completely cover the plant. We build little domes with bent branches and then weigh down everywhere the cover touches ground. You have adjust it as the plant grows but it's a small price to pay.
Once they get too big and starting to flower take it off, cut a chunk and completely incase in the first 6 - 12 inches of stem and right to the ground again held down by something like rocks. Tie it loosely at several places along the stem, they won't get through it and that's the bit you really need to protect.
