Binaural is sortt of complicated, the spaced omnis with Jecklin are generally considered binaural but lacks the pinna hearing cues, so doesn't have elevation localization cues but has a very "3D" soundfield that works just as well over loudspeakers as headphones. I did make a prototype/fun project binaural mic out of a bowling ball with two small mics embedded in the sides, but again, without actual ears it doesn't have the elevation cues. It works stunningly well in headphones though but not great over speakers. In general, the more realistically binaural it is the more it relies on headphones to work properly, but when it does it works great.
