>>1845210We got to the bottom of Deadhorse pass and planned on hiking til 6pm and then making camp near some small lakes. We started gettting some rain sprinkles around 5:30. It looked liked we were on the outer edge of a storm that was heading northeast away from us. Ten minutes later the thunder and lightening started. We got our rain gear on just in time for the heavy rain. We hiked for another ten minutes or so before the rain turned into buckets. We tried huddling under some trees but the rain was coming down so hard that it offered us no protection. We were going to get soaked whether we liked it or not. The temperature had already dropped considerably and we were soaked. The rain was only getting worse and our trail had turned into a gushing stream. The area we were in was turning into a giant swamp from the amount of rain coming down. We were fucked if we didn’t keep moving. The only way we were going to stay warm was by continuing on. The rain wasn’t letting up. It was only getting worse. We were prepared to hike the rest of the night if we had to. We continued on. Soaking wet and cold.
