>>1332673>DMT Dia-Sharp Bench Stone They are good stones IMO. I have an 4-8 Extra coarse lapping my Water Stones and for free hand re-profiling. Expensive but diamonds last a very long time. And the plate I got is very flat, which is good.
I plan on getting all the grits above extra coarse in 8", and getting a Pelican case that fits them, a lot easier of a free hand set up to move around than my water stones. I wish they made a 10" Extra Extra Coarse, that would be great for lapping.
>>1332597Pull through sharpeners are no good. Ceramic ones are not bad for the knife, but so fine that the knife would have to already be decently sharp to benefit from it.
The carbide ones; STAY AWAY. They ruin the edge. If you were to look at the edge extremely closely you would see sort of micro saw blade Swiss cheese. It looks like swiss cheese because the carbide sharpener pulled all the carbide chunks out of the edge. The knife seems sharp at first because of the rough micro saw blade, but it will lose that sharpness very fast because the edge no longer has those hard carbide crystals for support.
