>>2654324>>2654337so, i just learnt what streams i can drink from safely, and fill my bottle straight from them and replace the water in my bottles every day.
It's pretty basic stuff, check for good flow, avoid if there's still pools upstream, dead animals or shit in it. If it has just rained that is also bad because the water rises and picks up all kinds of shit, then it takes a little while for it to clear after the level rises/new water starts flowing in from previously dry tributaries.
If you only have super nasty bog water you will need some SIGNIFICANT filtration, then boiling. and it will still taste like shit btw.
Regarding bottles, i use any shitty random plastic bottles. I like 2L ones, with a proper solid top on them, which fits a sawyer filter and doesn't feel like i'm going to fucking break it, like those new ones. I also have a metal water bottle that i use when out, I feel content at camp if i have my metal bottle and 4L of water collected for a day. that's enough for cooking, washing, drinking, and a little reserve incase my source is fucked for whatever reason.
