>>2525393As spring gets closer, lots of places will want to clear some stock to make room for new stock. It’s a good time to get stuff you might not normally try, and at a more palatable price.
>>2525398If you look close at that redfish, the stock hooks were bent nearly completely out. I replaced with shorter stronger hooks, and even changed out to more durable split rings. I’m glad I did too, because I got into some larger ones later. This was last fall. It’s funny you mention repainting. I have dabbled with paints, but I wanted a way to do something on the water, so I started playing around with sharpies. I had an all white top water spook, and it didn’t really get a lot of looks, so I grabbed a plain black sharpie and drew a pattern on it and immediately caught a 3lb bass. I have these brown lures I got for like $0.75 in a clearance, so I bought a colored sharpie set and played around a bit recently. This is the result, and an example of the original side by side. I haven’t really had an opportunity to try it, since I tend to fish differently in the winter. I was trying out a lot of colors, so this pattern is a bit…busy. It may suck, but it was fun to do.
