>>2402804If you build a deck around an above ground pool it's a lot nicer, almost as good as an in-ground pool. Obviously building a deck is expensive but it's absolutely nothing compared to building an in-ground pool, and unlike the latter it can be torn down easily by the next home owner.
I remember when I was young there was this one house we always drove by any time we wanted to go anywhere and they had a lovely looking in-ground pool. The thing is, the home owners probably despised the fact that it had no privacy and literally every car trying to access the rest of the state had to drive past it. So then one day they filled in with dirt and turned it into a garden, and it became a true eyesore.
That incident at least got me thinking about the problems that an in-ground pool can cause if you ever need to get rid of it. It's either pay thousands of dollars to have it properly demolished for a few hundred dollars to fill it in and entomb it with dirt for future archeologists to find. There are few things sadder to look at than a filled in swimming pool.
