Every time I go backpacking or camping here in the Colorado Rockies I see nothin' but birds. Down here in the city you see squirrels and deer constantly, even coyotes foxes and bears. But I've never seen anything but birds when I hike. I'd love to encounter some deer or bear in a more natural setting just for the sightseeing, or even some rabbit or squirrel to practice my game dressing skills, but animals seem to avoid me like the plague innawoods. Am I cursed, or are animals especially shy in my area, or what?
