>>94374I prefer a smaller machete for doing what you have described, as well as setting up camp. It's a preference. I like the extra blade length. I find it useful to my style of woods craft. I have a couple of different models. One is a CS 'Barong" style at 10", and the other is a Bark River Knife & Tool 'Northwind' with about a 17 inch blade made of 0170-6. They don't make those anymore, but they do make a damn fine Golok.
