Lol it's far from terrible, it's just how picky you are. Backpack is a big choice to make IMO, whereas sleeping bags, foam pad, inflatable pad, tent, really doesn't matter. People sleep under the stars and under tarps just fine. But if a pack has too many pockets, or too small of opening for main compartment, it's a no-go.
Order from REI and remember they have an amazing return policy.
Order the Medium and the Large if you're iffy on sizing, then return one. You really want the hip belts right above those hip bones.
