Bears are routinely all over town in the summer (lady actually got mauled last summer). A few dogs have been taken out of backyards by mountain lions. But I am most scared of rattlesnakes. And my fear has gotten worse in the last few years. For the first time last year I had one raise up in the strike position while rattling. Quite a few years ago I had my foot less than a boot length away from one coiled up--and that was a day I was being extremely careful in regards to snakes, but not careful enough.
