When I'm racing enduros/harescrambles, I trim my pack down to almost nothing. 2-3L water in the camelbak, maybe some basic first aid stuff, phone for music.
Snocross'n, I don't even wear a pack.
And it feels fucking weird.
On the sled in the backcountry, I need to at least have avalanche rescue and survival gear on me in the event that I'm separated from my machine.
Dirt's less of an issue for survival, although I'd rather have the weight somewhat shock-absorbed on my back than bouncing around on the bike, especially if I have cameras in there.
