>>1848031Yeah do hunters Ed to get your license. I prefer bolt actions but 10/22 is a fine gun for squirrel hunting. All you need is a decent 3x9 scope and you should be good. Hunting with a dog is completely different than solo. I wouldn't know as I don't have a dog and only go solo. My advice is to not move too much, these aren't your neighborhood squirrel and will be very skittish. Take your time and avoid off hand shots. Brace against a tree branch or some other solid object for a good stable platform. Be very careful of archery deer hunters esp in the early season when the vegetation is thick. Some ppl like cci mini mags but they are too loud for me. I prefer cci standard which I hollowpoint with a special die. I would avoid lead roundnose bullets unless you are really good at making headshots.
