>>2497614>Lowe's employee here, can confirm. I'm personally the "born loser" and we have exactly one pothead and about 4 morons and that's our whole crew.I'm the guy you're responding to. I used to work at Lowe's myself, in contractor sales/Pro Services. That's how I know how it's all gone downhill: I watched part of it as it was happening.
I was the guy who could work up an estimate, do blueprint takeoffs, design and sell decks and outbuildings, who the general contractors relied on to get their shit for them, and who handled anything the management/rest of the store couldn't. I was hands-on, too, drove all the forklifts, pulled lumber, staged all of my own orders, pulled my own appliances and shit from receiving, etc.
Most of the guys like me have been replaced by former head cashiers, former Walmart supervisors, etc. who have absolutely no idea what they're doing and know nothing about construction or skilled trades.
The lumber guys and loaders all loved me because I didn't give a shit about "rank" in a retail store, and trolled and pranked management constantly (for example, by relocating the religious tracts that fundamentalist Christians would leave in the paint sample displays into their chair seats in the managers' office).
Leaving Lowe's encouraged me to finish my electrical engineering degree, so I'm doing much better now.
