So, if you are a few miles in on a hike and didn't know there was a fire over the hill and the wind changes you may never make it to a location where you can be safe. Trees block a lot of view so even at home, in your house, you may never know about it until you can't even drive your vehicle out in time, but have time to pop into a bunker at the end of your patio or wherever. You can even get trapped in your car on roads and not make it.
