I have made some mods to my own kayak. And I would highly suggest anchor trolley both sides and run them full length (front to back).
It always seems the way I want to position myself would be better from the side my trolley isn't.
The trolley itself is easy to do. Looks like you may need to add a couple eyelets or cleats thought. Don't use pop rivets if you can get nuts bolts on. But some time pop rivets are your only choice.
