Year and a half ago, my friend and I bought a cheap Halcyon 23 with the intent of it being a project.
This summer we sailed from Bitterne (near southampton) to Littlehampton over the course of 3 days. On the way back we managed it in 2 days.
Hard going when we had to go solely by engine. The little outboard on the back has a tendency to come out of the water, so we lose all speed and thus control.
But when she gets a good breeze behind her, easily makes 5-6knots made good.
