>>1082075Could be. I rarely have problems with bass ripping off the soft plastic tho, it's the panfish that try and rip at them. And if bass do have just the bait in their mouth and you don't hook em, they let go pretty easily.
I try not to throw old soft baits in the water either. If I'm near my car, I put em in my pocket and then drop it in a bag of old torn up baits I'm going to mail to skid one day. I actually have a couple half worms on my work bench I need to add to the bag. Otherwise I toss them in the bushes somewhere far from shore.
The one snek that had a whole fat worm in his belly, he didn't look skinny at all.
