Driscoll is SUPER guilty on this. Not only is virtually everything they grow patented, it's all secret. You don't even know what the exact lineage is the majority, except when they use outside stock.
Don't believe me? Look up "Raspberry Patents" on the internet, lol. Driscoll is so high on itself it names its cultivars after itself.
And I have zero doubt if anyone does sterilization, it's them.
I totally get the greedy logic of patenting and sterilizing everything while you rise to the top. But with the pandemic shining a big blinding light on agriculture, the problems become horrifyingly obvious.
