i personally stopped bringing a snow shovel since it wasn't worth the bulkiness.
I use an ice axe to bury/dig up deadman stakes, plus it helps crossing spots like icey ravines and valleys
A snow shovel is nice if you want to build furniture like a snow couch, and if you're in a big group it might be worth the bulkiness
