Bear attack question:
Assume you have the practical out gun of your choice, and a Grizzly is about 10-15 yards away, rears up and growls, then charges you to attack... (I.E. you have enough warning to draw your gun and aim, but he is close enough that he will be on you in moments once he charges.)
What, realistically, would you do or what is the best thing to do in your opinion?
What gun would you want to have in this situation (realistically, obviously a full-auto AR-15 pistol or a .50 Action Express, etc. would be more ideal than what you would realistically have while out.)
Where would you aim? COM then wherever? Head? Potshots while running?
What would you do? Hold position for aim and mag-dump? Aim for vitals with first shots then run? Shoot and run? Etc?
Genuinely curious. I am the anon above. When out hunting or in National Forrest's, I carry a 6" S&W 686 on my hip, usually when camping or hiking I also have my SIG 365xl CCW with me, when camping sometimes this is the only gun I carry depending on location. The Smith has 6rds and I can empty them in about 2.5-3 seconds with moderate to poor accuracy at close range when shooting as fast as I can. The Sig holds 14 (I don't fill the last round to preserve the spring +1 in the chamber). I can empty that gun in ~4.5 seconds with moderate to good accuracy when shooting fast at close range - it is far easier to keep on target and follow instinctually than the .357. IMHO it seems like the 9mm, despite a less powerful round would be the superior weapon if charged by a grizzly since the repeated hits by far more rounds would more than make up for the lower power... if I landed most on the bears head, that should effectively pulverize the skull into mush.
