It's all part of the experience.
When I'm doing medieval era outdoor stuff I always wear my chainmail, sure it slows me down but you never know when an enemy on a horse could loose an arrow at you through the trees.
Likewise when I am doing Japanese Shogun era camping I always have some shuriken to catch wild quarry with and pic related to keep cool innawoods
