i just got an osprey atmos ag50. my only other experience is using an army alice pack for like 15 years in the army and on my own. been out of the army for a while now and its time to upgrade.
the suspension on it, with how it keeps your back away from the pack with that mesh is freaking awesome. the strap padding is thick as hell which is nice. the hip support grips you because of the way its integrated with the mesh. dont even need to buckle up to feel the weight of the pack go on the hips if you arent carrying more than 20lbs.
hard to compare it since its my first real pack. the army stuff is such dogshit compared to civilian stuff. its not even close to the lightest pack and its like 20% the weight of my alice one.
