>>1731462I think I see what you're getting at but in all seriousness living aboard a modestly sized boat is, in my experience far cheaper than owning a home if you are willing and able to do all the work your self save some very specialist stuff like detailed engine work and rigging.
Even then most of it isnt that hard. Taking care of an engine is easy and there are more than a few books out there that can prepare you to do your own rigging and electrical work.
Its like buying a house that you can inspect every nook and cranny of inch by inch top to bottom and end to end in the span of a day. See a problem, fix a problem.
Stay ahead of the problems and she'll last forever. If you get lazy and fall behind youre in for a world of suck, like a house with termites or frozen pipes.
Do a little every day and not only is it manageable but its light work and enjoyable too, because once youve fixed that running light now you can sail to a quiet little bay and spend the week in an isolated paradise for you to choose either to go home or keep going.
Migrating with the seasons is the way to live. You learn a lot and you see a lot and you can experience a level of freedom that most people only dream of.
