What are you powering with it?
2kW is a good size for most applications where you need a generator. AC units, you'll need more power (or parallel two 2kW units).
I have two Generac iX2000's. Got them used for super-cheap. One works great, other not so much. Think i've narrowed it down to stator windings on the one that doesn't work, just haven't taken the time to go through it in any more depth than that.
The functioning one has been real reliable otherwise.... great on fuel.
There's a bunch of cheaper chinese ones that get rebranded... Polaris, Husky, and Ryobi gens are all Kipor motors/electronics.
Let it idle for a few minutes to warm up before you plug a load into it, and also unplug the load and let it idle for a minute or two before you shut it down.
Install an hour meter to track usage, do an oil change yearly regardless of how much it's used. (I need to do that on mine, as soon as I get the motorcycle engine off the bench.)
