>>349534>>349545>its a great bike not great for highway speeds>i personally would take a wr250 but i am a tad bit of a yamaha fanboyPretty much +1 for this.
Truthfully, all the KLX's I've ever ridden have been ... not real impressive. But I've never ridden one that had wheels on it, and it's always been over 10k ft (Snowbike kits, Ad-Boivin Explorer and Timbersled Mountain Horse). So take that for what it's worth. I just know that compared to the other 450's (and the bigger 500/600 thumpers we had), the KLX's performed the worst of all of them. Get something with a wider-ratio transmission, makes a huge difference for dualsport use.
The WR250's are great, even with the 250. Light, nimble, and durable engine and chassis. Capable of extended highway runs. To be honest, if I hadn't found the deal I got on my KTM, I'd be on a WR (probably the 450 though, no replacement for displacement etc etc).
