>>1146472I've done a bit of spalting. Lot of fun, and seeing as I cultivate normal mushrooms it is a cool side-thing to do with Inedible ones. I have a source culture for Chlorociboria sitting around, I'm really excited to work with it.
The main reason people use spalting for smaller objects is that as the fungus moves through the wood, it actually reduces structural integrity pretty well. Chlorociboria basically turns the wood its on into paper, so it really only gets used for inlays on instruments and cabinets and such.
