>>418655>doesn't even have the charm of the desert>like NebraskaIf you're talking about low precipitation and Nebraska, then you have to account for the Sandhills, which is the largest stabilized dune system in the Western Hemisphere and one of the largest, intact native grasslands in North America. And all of this is sitting over the Ogallala Aquifer, which is one of the world's largest aquifers and is also a very shallow watertable.
I'm only posting this because I know you're picturing the entirety of the great plains as a flat as fuck table at the intersection of a couple roads where you can see absolutely no one else for miles, but since this is /out/, I just want to say fuck you. The Sandhills are not the mountains, it's not the ocean, it's not a vast, clean desert landscape, and it's never going to stand up to that, but it's not boring unless everything has to be 'the biggest and the bestest ever.' You have to remember North Dakota and South Dakota are included on that midwest list, and think about the Badlands, etc. There are plenty of interesting features in Nebraska, including Chimney Rock, Scottsbluff, Toadstool, Ft. Robinson, fossil beds, Smith Falls/Niobrara, etc.
The plains are not plain.
