it takes a bit to get it sharp but it does hold it's edge. the cross guard fucking sucks and plan on hacking it off along the spine. the pommel is good for pounding tent pegs and nails ect. they do work great for batoning though don't hold the handle too tight, I have seen lots of posts from people who have broken their knives this way. the handle is a little round and slippery for my dry hands, I added this leather to help with grip and indexing and it works quite well. you'll want to remove a spot of the coating on the spine for your fire striker
I bought mine because a friend swore by his and didn't do my own research, it's not bad but I would do it differently next time
