If you want to work your dog you need to stay on top of it's training and try to not let it stray to far into pet mode. We've always had springers and they can be pretty high maintance to keep them sharp. We can't really take him for a casual dog walk and have to keep on top of him with the whistle. He came from a pretty charged up line so that probably got a lot to do with it. Our current dog doesn't know his own limits so we have to make sure he doesn't work himself so hard that he collapses. I'm no way an expert though. Either way he's a good dog and is really coming into his own. Looking forward to the coming season to see him work.
