Comfy hammock setup in the rain last sunday. 2 night trip to Lake Vesuvius with my dad.
Some 75 year old guy came to our campsite about an hour before dark asking for water and directions to the dam, where his car was parked (about 5 miles away).
Dad went back with him and brought a headlamp so the guy didn't end up dead, while i stayed at camp to try to make sure it didnt flood too badly.
Dad was gone for 5 hours, camp was flooded, and i was starting to think he slipped off the path into the lake, or into a ravine. We average a bit less than 3 mph with packs on so he should've been back by then.
Decided to take off into the woods yelling for him every 10 seconds, and running when it wasnt too dangerous. Found him about 2 miles later with a dead headlamp.
We made it back to camp cold and wet, we drank the rest of the whisky we brought, and tried to get some rest so we could hike out in the morning.
10/10 would go again
