Huon pine can be as 3000 years old and once they fall, they are great for boats since they dont rot and they smell fucking amazing.
Once was on a trail and saw a recently fallen that was HUGE, it was shredded at the base of the trunk and since it was so fresh or something steam/evaporating water or something was coming out of it or sum shit. It was under a very dark green canopy and it looked spectacular with the sun peaking thru the gaps of the canopy and shining on the steam. Mind you all forest walks in Huon pine areas are ultra protected and often use raised wooden foot paths.
Honestly my favorite place on earth.
