I highly recommend just filtering bugg.... errr.. . . uh plont and not getting too worked up about things. Some people are just the way they are and it's not worth fussing over.
on-topic, I've planted cholla under all my windows for burglars to feel the great joy of cholla.
and I did a soil/water mix for some strains of algae and they look like jars of poo water, but hopefully the algae like it.
