>>797349Look at the line diameters. 40lb braid is the same diameter as 10lb or 12lb mono I believe. So if you want to run the same diameter as 30lb mono, that will be some heavy ass line and will probably be overkill. I normally go a little lower diameter so I can get more line on the spool and cast further with the thinner and lighter line.
The one thing though, braid isn't as smooth as mono. So if 40lb braid is the same diameter and weight as 10lb mono, the mono will probably cast a little smoother and further. So I would run 20lb braid on that reel and it is so much thinner and lighter than the 10lb mono that I can cast much further with twice the strength.
