Looks like the dulcimer has 4 strings, so uke -> delc could possibly be easy to pick up.
Whenever I go out I do tend to bring my ukulele. I have a Tenor, and even though it's the third largest of the four, it's still VERY light weight.
The Tenor do have the higher pitch than a guitar, but not the stereotyped soprano sound that people think of when they think of ukulele. By far one of the funnest instruments I've tried yet.
Playing outside makes it 10x better.
