In many countries commercial fishermen solely use fishing rods and reels to harvest catch. new zealands kingfish (yellowtail) for an example. they smash them on topwater and deep jigs. all caught on rod and reel to conform to the commercial laws set forth.
also bruh.. this is not why circle hooks exist.. people were commercial fishing long before circle hooks existed.
