Its all the rage I see when I've looked into gardening for cheap. I don't have much of a yard so these 5 gallon buckets seem ideal.
Just look up "food buckets as planters" they need to be from food because then you'll know that they are safe and didn't hold chemicals or something. I actually have a gigantic bucket I bought from goodwill that I almost used as a planter until I read that it carried some kind of paint stripping material.
You can also find giant versions of this that people use as rain barrels or to store water, or even to cut into to make a larger planter. I saw them on sale on Facebook marketplace for like 10-15, I'm not sure where to find them but I know these smaller ones you can find at restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores and probably also online.
