The Spanish also sent out a counter-expedition to arrest Lewis & Clark's
group, but arrived too late to catch them.
But I feel crossbows would be better suited for most of the men (with only
say one modern muzzle loader per 4-5 man team); almost as effective and
a bit faster to load and the arrows are reusable (though lead bullets could
be recovered from game and recast using bullet molds).
