Woods around me look like pic rel left in the summer, and pic rel right in fall.
I run into patches of thorny plants and bushes sometimes, but when I feel it grab me I can either see it and go around if it’s a lot, or step on it to mat it down if it’s just a little bit.
I’ve had a thorn bush make some runs in a pair of light weight nylon pants, but never even had to worry about my shoes.
Worst thing that ever happens to them is the laces get covered in those sort of flat triangular stickers
