"Mount Eerie" was embodied in a moment. November 22nd 2003 at 4:45 in the evening. I was unloading the rental car in the dying light at the end of a tour that felt like work, load after load of boxes, papers, wrappers, bags into my parent's cozy house. 2 fires going, music and animals lounging. Over and over, the sensation of going from the orange inside room into the dim world, and into the music of 2 owls in the forest echoing through trees hooting at each other. I passed my momentum just a bit each time I stepped outside to turn my ears to them, but kept crunching through the gravel with more loads. I told my brother watching TV about the owls and he came out during a commercial break: "Are those owls still here?"
