Went out for dink smallies with a friend and we went well in to the double digits. Didn't keep an exact count, though. I also think I'm finally ready to say the hyper finesse is all figured; I'm happy with the blank, the reel seat and handle, and the eye guides. I do think if someone wanted to get it for steelhead they'd be better off with traditional guides for the ease and ability to clear ice, though. I'm also confident marking the casting weight 1/16-1/2 Oz and the line 6-17 with my proffered being 10 or 12 pound mono on 10 or 15 pound braid.
>>2626750>>2626648Ehhh it might be okay for a while, but most of everything in that kit won't be useful for surf fishing. I'd recommend spending a little more on an Echo lift kit, it doesn't have as many accessories,, bur they're not using gimmicks to squeeze profit out of a cheaper rod. As for what you're doing, an 8 should be fine. 9 or 10 will buck the wind better but 8 will be fine. Buy an appropriate sinking fly line. The base reel will break eventually but not as fast as the Amazon special and if you do manage to wear it out then you know you use it enough to justify an upgrade. Throw in a streamer fly box, a spool of 25 and a spool of 15lb mono, and a couple flies from the local shop and you'll be ready to fish. You'd have to buy those extras regardless of which kit you got, the fly box in that kit is made for small trout flies, not saltwater streamers, and 4x tippet is miniscule.
>>2626746Mostly agree but it sounds like they're only gonna be in the surf for smaller queries
>>2626775You either use 4lb leader or you don't. Learn the fg knot. Albright is good too.
